DS Music is one of the UK’s biggest Sibelius resellers, and its Managing Director, Jon Petrie, has been shortlisted for the Shell Live Wire Young Entrepeneur of the Year 2009, a highly sought-after award that recognises the best young businessmen and businesswomen under 30 years of age.
To have got to this stage in the proceedings, Jon has already submitted a dossier of information about his business, a five-year business plan, and a presentation. The judges whittle the hundreds of entries down to the top 29, and then to the top eight. Jon will be travelling to London in the final week of October to present to the judges in person, and will then find out if he is the winner.
Over the next five years, Jon plans significant expansion of his business. Today, he has a single retail shop in Monmouth, South Wales, but within five years he expects to have opened several more shops across the UK. Currently Jon has a team of three people working for him, and is currently recruiting for a new team member (so if you’re interested, contact him).
“Sibelius has played a huge part in our development,” he says. “From trading we soon became one of the largest Sibelius software dealers in the UK, and we now sell Sibelius’s full range of products. We cannot thank Sibelius enough for all their suport from the start — especially Justin, Adam, Karen and Emma in the sales and finance teams.”
