Sibelius 7 Music Notation Essentials book now available

News

Sibelius 7 Music Notation Essentials is the first Avid-certified book to be written about Sibelius. Part of the Avid Learning Series published by Cengage Learning, this new 350-page book forms the basis of a new curriculum for learning Sibelius 7 through a series of projects that you can complete in the comfort of your own home, or in a hands-on setting with an instructor at an Avid Learning Partner.

The book has been written by James Humberstone (@JamesHumbers), a name familiar to regular readers of this blog. He is the man behind the Learn Sibelius 6 in one hour videos and e-book, and has been teaching with Sibelius for the past 10 years. I can’t think of anybody better qualified to write a book to teach Sibelius.

I called James in Sydney from my office in London to talk to him about the book, and you can hear that interview below.

If you’d like to purchase the book, you can do so from Amazon in the UK or in the US, or directly from Cengage, or indeed from any good bookseller. I will be sure to post again once the new Avid certification for Sibelius 7 that accompanies the book is launched.

The audio interview with the author, James Humberstone is very interesting. James is obviously an excellent choice to write this book, and it was great to hear a little of his history in the interview. Great post, Daniel – thank you!

Great interview Daniel (and James!). It’s a very thorough course which covers a wide variety of skills and I think even experienced Sibelius users will learn something new. James has done an excellent job with not only the book itself, but all of the supporting material. The videos in particular are of the highest quality. I can highly recommend the book to users of all levels.
