For the past several years Avid, and before that Sibelius Software, have been privileged to sponsor Classic FM’s Music Teacher of the Year competition, which seeks to recognise six of the most inspirational music teachers in the UK’s schools. There are categories for primary, secondary, special needs, peripatetic and newly-qualified teachers.

This year’s winners will be announced at the Music for Youth Schools Prom in November 2010, and each of the winners will receive music software worth £1000 from Avid.

I know that I wouldn’t be doing what I do today if it hadn’t been for my music teacher at secondary school (thank you Mr. Carleston!) and it’s great to see teachers who have made a big difference to the lives of many young people recognised for their achievements.

If you know of a teacher worthy of nomination, don’t delay: nominate them today!

Excellent program, Daniel. Does Avid sponsor similar competitions outside of the UK?
