Radio silence, and some tidbits

Apologies for the lack of posts over the last few weeks. It’s a very busy time at Sibelius HQ, and I just haven’t had the chance to post. A few quick updates:

  • Scorch has been a hit in the iPad App Store, with thousands of units sold already, and the app has been consistently ranked in the top 10 music apps in the iPad App Store in several countries since its launch. We’re already up to version 1.0.2, which fixes a few bugs with library management, so if you haven’t updated yet, do so when you get the chance.
  • Mac OS X 10.6.8 creates no new problems with Sibelius 6 that we have either found in our own testing or have had reported to us, so if you’ve been waiting to update, there doesn’t appear to be anything to worry about.
  • I’ve had lots of correspondence asking about compatibility of Sibelius 6 with the forthcoming OS X 10.7 Lion, which will reportedly be released very soon. Look for official information on the Sibelius web site, but I can say that in our testing so far there is only one serious issue, which affects online registration (though there is a perfectly good workaround, which is to register using your web browser instead). This issue will affect not only Sibelius 6 but all previous versions of Sibelius as well. As things stand, we don’t expect to have to issue any kind of update for Sibelius 6 regarding Lion compatibility.

Hopefully the regular schedule of posting will resume over the next few weeks. In the meantime, if you have any suggestions about what you’d like to see here on the blog, please get in touch.

Great news about compatibility with Lion, but, gosh darn, I was hoping you were busy with Sibelius 7… :)

Using Scorch on my iPad quite a bit and loving it – thanks!

Thanks for the news about Lion compatibility, Daniel! I’ll wait at least a little while before upgrading, just to see if something slips in there undiscovered.

  3. Mike

Yeah, what’s the news on 7?

  4. TBoneTrouble

Yea, was hoping for some news on 7, but realize the sensitivity of releasing info. (I work for Apple so I know the pain sometimes!!!)

Taking advantage of lions full screen capabilities in Sib. 7 would be cool though if you guys go that route.

Currently on Sib 5 but no sense of going to 6 if 7 may be around the corner

Daniel, thanks for the Lion update. A site called RoaringApps has listed some issues with Sibelius in Lion…. are these known issues?

BTW… also curious about Sib7…. I’m a recent convert and am appropriately zealous. =)

Yes, very interested to hear more about Sibelius 7 when it arrives.
And provided there’s no nasty iLok dongle, I’ll upgrade yet again (about every version since Sibelius 1 first came out!)
