Barely a month ago we re-released the Music Type Foundry fonts exclusively on our Notation Central marketplace. This marked the first time in three years that the Music Type Foundry (MTF) fonts had been made available to new customers.
Each of the newly available fonts, originally designed by Abraham Lee, has been updated and revised by Dan Kreider, and are now only available in the SMuFL format, for use in Dorico and any other notation application that supports the SMuFL standard. They will not work in Sibelius or other programs that do not support SMuFL.
Sale extended
We’ve seen great interest in the fonts, and we want to give customers a little more time to celebrate this occasion. So, we are extending our introductory sale by one week. We are offering each MTF font at Notation Central at a special price of $59.99, a 25% discount off of the regular price of $79.99 each.
This sale is now extended through April 7, 2025 and no code is needed. We don’t run sales often on Notation Central — and this one won’t be extended further — so we hope this gives interested customers a little more time to enjoy the offer.
In addition, there is an ongoing discount of 25% off where customers can create an ad-hoc bundle by purchasing two or more MTF fonts at once and applying the code MTF25 at checkout. This discount can be stacked with the introductory sale, making it possible to obtain each MTF font through April 7 for the effective price of only $45 each. This includes MTF-Arnold, MTF-Beethoven, MTF-Cadence, MTF-Haydn, and MTF-Scorlatti.
Updates
If you’re looking to preview the glyphs of each MTF font, you’re now in luck. There is a new Glyphs tab on each MTF product page on Notation Central, where you can view a table of all of the glyphs present in a MTF font.
There is also a version 3.001 update available for MTF-Beethoven, MTF-Cadence, and MTF-Scorlatti, where a few issues have been patched since the release, as follows:
MTF-Beethoven:
- Arpeggio Down arrow fixed.
- Trill speed wiggles fixed.
- Kerning in dynamics improved.
- Dynamics ‘punctuation’ added.
- Tuplet numerals spacing improved.
MTF-Cadence:
- Tuplet numerals spacing improved.
- Metrics changed to match other SMuFL fonts.
MTF-Scorlatti:
- Tuplet numerals spacing improved.
Updated versions of the fonts will automatically appear in your Notation Central account, in the Downloads section.
