Mac OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 released; resolves Sibelius sluggishness

News

Mac-OS-X-Mavericks-LogoToday Apple released OS X 10.9.2, the latest update to its Mavericks operating system. According to Avid’s Sam Butler, the update “includes a fix to the way caches are handled that resolves the sluggishness of Sibelius 7 and Sibelius First on Mac OS 10.9. After updating to 10.9.2, Sibelius will run as normal without having to send the Mac to sleep.”

Apple recommends the update for all OS X Mavericks users. The update is available from the Mac App Store, and includes some new features, bug fixes, and security updates, including a patch for a well-publicized SSL vulnerability.

A full list of improvements is available on Apple’s web site.

The font display problem in the Ribbon and in dialog boxes remains unresolved for the moment, meaning that users will see a slightly smaller Helvetica font in these areas instead of the normal Lucida Grande. The display of the Sibelius document itself is unaffected.

ReWire appears to work normally after repairing ReWire in Play > Setup > Audio Engine Options and restarting Sibelius.

Updated 6:30 pm with additional information about the font and ReWire issues.

Does this make Sibelius 7 on Mavericks faster than Sibelius 7 on Mountain Lion? Because holy cow it’s sloowwwwwwww on ML.

Or is it something only to do with an issue in 10.9 and 10.9.1?

I’m on Mavericks 10.9.2 and Sibelius 7.1.3 Everything works fine and fast.
My only problem regards my midi keyboard, the Juno-G, which is not recognised! Anyone knows a very simple midi keyboard working on Mavericks?
    Thanks in advance!

Hein, try using the M-Audio KeyStudio 49i. It’s a pretty decent MIDI keyboard.

    Thanks, I will!!
