To celebrate the 80th birthday of the world-famous studios in London, Abbey Road is staging a competition to find the next great choral anthem. Up to ten composers will have their original works recorded in Studio One, under the direction of Eric Whitacre, one of the world’s most popular contemporary choral composers.
The competition will be judged by Whitacre, composers Rob Mathes and George Fenton, and director of The Sixteen, Harry Christophers. It’s open to unsigned composers of all ages from all over the world, and entries must be received before 15 July 2011.
Follow @AbbeyRoad on Twitter for their inspirational #AnthemoftheDay, or “like” Abbey Road on Facebook, then fire up Sibelius and get writing! Your composition could be performed in one of the world’s greatest recording rooms before the end of the year.
